Triangle Frame

Build a right-triangle box-tube frame with the 3-Point Rectangle and a layout sketch that drives the whole thing.

Your Task

Build a right-triangle box-tube frame, reusing everything so far.

  • Make a side layout sketch for the triangle.
  • You'll need a new tool for the angled tube.

The 3-Point Rectangle

Angled tubes need an angled rectangle — that's the 3-Point Rectangle tool.

  • Sketch > Rectangle > 3-Point Rectangle (or the Rectangle dropdown).
  • The first two clicks set the angle and length; the third sets the width.
  • Dimension it by length or by angle.

Align the top corner of the diagonal tube with the top corner of the vertical tube — a horizontal constraint between those points keeps it clean.

03

Extruding the Tubes

Once your sketch is done, do the exact same thing you did on the box frame.

  • Make a new sketch on the face of the drive box tubing.
  • Project the lines you need onto that sketch.
  • Extrude out the tubes — just like the boxes.
  • Reuse your 2x1 settings so every tube in the triangle frame matches.

Nothing new here — it's the same sketch-and-extrude loop from the box frame, only the geometry is angled. Jump back to that lesson if your having trouble.

Key idea

If the layout sketch moves, the frame should move with it.

That's the whole point of a layout.

04

Finishing Up

Break, then review your frame.

  • Check for interferences.
  • Confirm the tubes reference the layout sketch.
  • Try editing the layout — does the frame follow?
